JA Gears Up for a Busy Week!

July 10, 2023

What a week this will be . . . read on.

We’ll start with this weekend, during which JA México wrapped up its 39th FIE (Foro Internacional de Emprendedores or International Forum of Entrepreneurs). FIE is a high-energy mix of business and fun, including tech challenges, contests, theme parties, sports, workshops, and master lectures—with an inspiring talk this year from JA México alumnus Tonatiuh Gómez, a Principal Dancer with the San Diego Ballet, an entrepreneur, and a featured story in our current JA Worldwide Impact Report. The event also showcased JA’s first-ever (as far as we know) mascot of the modernized JA logo (see photo).

JA Europe Gen-E 2023 gets underway in Istanbul, Türkiye on Tuesday and includes an opportunity for you to vote for your favorite JA student companies, listen to conversations with members of the European Parliament and business leaders, and see the results of the exciting competition to be named Europe’s top youth entrepreneurs. JA Europe and JA Türkiye will be covering the event on social media, as will we at JA Worldwide.

On Wednesday, sit back and enjoy fascinating and inspiring stories of successful alumni entrepreneurs from all over Europe during a JA Alumni Europe livestream at 15:20EET (14:20CEST/8:30amEDT).

On Thursday, JA Africa and Z Zurich Foundation host a webinar on the importance of mental health for young entrepreneurs, students, and leaders. Join Dr. Naeem Dalal, Mental Health Specialist, Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI); Belinda Esaete, Founder and CEO of Beldeluxe; Akani Mkansi, Social Equity Project Lead, JA South Africa; and Wanjira Apet, JA Kenya alumna and CEO, Project Yoof, as they share their insights on prioritizing youth mental well-being. Register now.

Saturday is UN World Youth Skills Day (WYSD), with the theme of “skilling teachers, trainers, and youth” for a transformative future. Given that all we do is build skills among the world’s youth, we’ll be sharing special WYSD posts this week in anticipation.

And all this week, we’re partnering with JA Asia Pacific, JA Malaysia, and PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF) for our second JA Alumni Leaders Academy, this one focusing on eleven JA alumni leaders in the region. Read all about last week’s event in Uganda and stay tuned to our Instagram channel for highlights from Malaysia.
